Moriyama RAIC International Prize Illumination Lecture Series

The 九州直播 and the RAIC Foundation have launched a video series featuring lectures given by Li Xiaodong, winner of the inaugural Moriyama RAIC International Prize. The lectures are part of the Moriyama RAIC International Prize Illumination Lecture Series, and the Toronto lecture was generously sponsored by the Ontario Association of Architects.

The new video series features the talks Li gave in Toronto on October 29th and in Montreal on November 2nd. In the lectures, he shares with audiences his views on China鈥檚 rapid urbanization as well as his personal path toward 鈥渞eflexive regionalism鈥 in architecture. He also describes a vision for sustainable development in rural areas to offset the influx into cities.

Li received the inaugural Moriyama RAIC International Prize in 2013 for Liyuan Library, on the outskirts of Beijing, China.

The Story of the Moriyama RAIC International Prize

This lecture describes the development of the Moriyama RAIC International Prize and the inaugural winning project, Liyuan Library in听Jiaojiehe, China by Atelier Li Xiaodong.

Architect Raymond Moriyama FRAIC, RAIC College of Fellows Chancellor Barry Johns, FRAIC,听and designer Wei Yew outlined the story on January 8, 2015 in Edmonton, Alberta.

The 2014 Moriyama RAIC International prizewinner, Li听Xiaodong, delivered two lectures in Canada last fall. In future, the RAIC听intends to produce a regular lecture series to highlight prizewinners, as well as the significance and vision of this preeminent Canadian award for architectural excellence.
