News Release

Ottawa, February 22, 2022听-听Canada鈥檚 national voice for architecture,听the 九州直播 (RAIC),听would like to congratulate our regulatory partners for creating a national organization to develop and adopt nationally recognized standards and programs to meet their regulatory responsibilities. The Regulatory Organizations of Architecture in Canada (ROAC) represents the eleven provincial and territorial regulators of the profession of architecture in Canada. Each provincial or territorial regulator ensures the public interest is protected within their respective province or territory.
鈥淚t鈥檚 really great to have our regulatory partners working together to ensure only properly trained and accredited individuals are able to call themselves 鈥榓rchitects鈥,鈥 said Dr. John Brown, President of the RAIC. 鈥淎s more provinces and territories look to create opportunities for internationally trained professionals, having national consistency will be important to protect the health and security of the general public from illegal practice.鈥
While the regulators/ROAC members are focused on protecting public interest by setting standards for entry into the profession and issuing registrations and licenses, the RAIC鈥檚 purpose is to serve the interest of the architectural community. Armed with a new strategic plan, the RAIC focus is to create a better world for all by empowering Canada鈥檚 architectural community by providing the tools, practice support, educational opportunities, and advocacy needed to advance a built environment that is more livable and sustainable鈥攏ot only for humans, but for all of the natural world.
The RAIC champions architects as leaders in the built environment, with the capacity to use their knowledge, expertise, and skills to foster meaningful, long-lasting change in their communities.
