In celebration of the first anniversary of the听听and the 30th听Anniversary of the听, the RAIC and听the听U.S. Embassy are coming together to present a one-hour discussion on the similarities, differences, challenges,听and opportunities that these two national acts pose for architects, and those they are designing for.听听
Canadian architect Annie Boivin听and American architect Karen L. Braitmayer听will听present听their experiences and insights on designing functional, accessible, barrier-free environments that are inclusive for all users. Host Thea Kurdi听will also address the landmark legislation in both countries, the development of accessibilities codes,听and the implications for the design and building industries.听A moderated Q+A session will explore the similarities and differences听that听these two national approaches听pose听to accessible design.听听

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:
- Compare the similarities and听differences between听the ADA and ACA legislation.
- Discuss听the impacts of听the听Accessible Canada Act and the American鈥檚 with Disabilities Act on听the听built environment.
