Since 2009, EVOQ has been leading the design, construction and renovation of air terminals throughout Nunavik. These projects have proven to be unique opportunities for cultural re-appropriation by Inuit communities. In identifying the issues related to the development of a meaningful architecture for the Nunavimmiut, EVOQ has helped bridge the cultural gap. This has generated the creation of a unique architectural 鈥渕茅tissage鈥 or cultural blend, allowing the Nunavimmiut to start reclaiming parts of their built environment. The narrative framework that is given shape through the architecture of the terminals represents the Inuit worldview. Each terminal speaks of the culture of the individual communities. The distinctive elements chosen by the community members tell the unique stories that proudly distinguish them.
Learning Objectives:
At the听conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:听
